A lot of software tools promise to help. You may have tried some of them and found they take a long time to learn, don't do everything you need, or do endless things you don't need — as you discover each time you fall down a rabbit hole trying to figure some feature out.
Business Engine is different. It's software that automates the work 5 to 50 people do together. Automate, as in click one button and things just happen that used to take a lot of manual work. And every screen in your system is one you use, because it's set up specifically for you. With Business Engine, all your organization's data is connected and lives in a single, easy-to-use system giving you automatic reports, automatic emails, pushing data to the web, pulling data from the web, and much more.
Business Engine multiplies your team by automating routine tasks, then saves weeks not minutes with automations built just for you. Some customers get twice as much work done with the same staff after automation.
We love business automation! At Mighty Ant DataWorks (the company that created Business Engine) we've been creating it for over 35 years. Now, new technologies have enabled us to create Business Engine and bring to small and medium-sized organizations capabilities previously only available in multi-million-dollar custom systems.
Top universities, corporations, and non-profits use Business Engine every day to automate their work.
If you're looking to dramatically increase what your team can do, we invite you to check Business Engine out. It's easier to use, faster to set up, and can do more than legacy systems.
To see if it might be a fit for you, read about it here and check out the demo video below. If it looks promising, schedule a demo and try it out yourself live. We can also put you in touch with references of existing customers who've had their organizations transformed by Business Engine. And we can get you set up fast. If you decide to get Business Engine, we can generally get you going with it in just a week or two.
We'd be honored to have you as a customer.
Thank you,
The chief designer of Business Engine is a nationally award-winning software developer, Caltech computer science grad, whose work was on display in the Smithsonian for over 15 years. The co-creator of Business Engine led the transformation of Walt Disney Feature Animation from hand-drawn to computer animation, and is now a multidisciplinary AI expert. Our team has over 35 years of experience automating systems of all sorts.
We also love talking to people — which, truth be told, not all technical people do! Years of talking to property developers with innovative financial models, non-profits doing good work on tight budgets, with all sorts of university offices dealing with complex constraints within their organizations, and with geeky scientists constructing space probes with unique needs has given us broad experience in quickly grasping, then automating, all sorts of work.
Each customer has their own screens and fields, but the core features are the same.
Some sample setups:
Your industry is probably not one of the above, but the functions used in each system are ones used by almost every group. We've created automation systems to manage construction of space probes, to handle large patent and licensing portfolios, to do property management, or, just as another random example, track the licensing of images for the Audrey Hepburn Estate so the income from licensing Audrey Hepburn's image could be used to support children's charities.
For all these groups, screens and fields and reports differ by setup, but the core system is the same. It used to take months (or years) to make a custom system, but with Business Engine you can be set up in a week or two. Find any data, get automatic reports, automatic emails, tracking of actions, files, and other data — Business Engine lets you move faster, benefit from best practices from many organizations, and fully automate work that used to take days or weeks.
Business Engine setup is customized for you — every screen, field, and report in your system is something your team actually uses. But while your screens and fields are distinct, the overall functions of the system are shared.
Almost every organization, for example, needs to track contacts — the people and organizations you work with. Every organization needs to send emails. Every organization needs to track actions, and reminders, or sometimes wants to attach files to any type of record, or do dozens of other things Business Engine automatically provides. This huge overlap in functionality different groups need (and noticing we were creating the same features over and over again for 35+ years in different systems) is part of what led us to create Business Engine. A system set up just with what you need is easier to use, saves time, and with Business Engine supports custom automations specific to your business saving you weeks of work a year.
Customized business software analogized as a friendly chicken (you read it here first, folks)
Every growing organization looks like a mess from the inside sometimes. You’re growing – so by definition you’re doing something right! But, at the same time, if you’re growing, you’re also outgrowing older ways of doing things. Sales leads or follow-up calls could be tracked on Post-its when you were a one person operation, inventory could be kept in Excel at the start, to-do lists could just be your team’s email inboxes when you’re getting off the ground, but as you grow and succeed, processes you’ve outgrown don’t just slow work down, they start to fall apart.
When we go into a successful, growing business of 20 people and see their operations are run with tottering piles of paper files plastered with Post-its, with checks paperclipped to the outside of the folders (that occasionally fall off and get lost) we give that business team a huge high five for two reasons: 1) these people run a successful business, and are able to keep growing even when being swamped by outdated business processes, and 2) these folks are going to LOVE having Business Engine automate their work — and they have only the first inkling of how great it will be!
Replacing cumbersome or broken business processes with Business Engine makes people as happy as a three-year-old holding a very friendly chicken. Even better, the chicken follows you home afterward, starts doing many of your chores, and can provide cheerful color charts showing the hugely positive return on investment of its efforts on your behalf.
We should all have such a chicken!

We love automating work! We once automated the quarterly performance reports for an organization, that included creating a great many charts and graphs in great detail — matching what the organization used to do by hand. This was a big time saver! But it actually did more than just save a week of time each quarter for the staff member who previously had to put it together. The group realized once it was just a button press away, the reports they used to run quarterly to monitor their business could be run monthly, weekly, or daily — really, any time they wanted. Just press the button. The change wasn't just quantitative (time saved), but also qualitative (a brand-new capability!)
We recently automated gathering research stipend support information for a university office. For this group, students in their summer research program could be supported by their faculty mentors, by their college, by their school, by their research center, or by the central undergraduate research office itself. Gathering stipend support information and approvals for hundreds of applicants, with half a dozen options for support each, used to be a nightmare of spreadsheets, emails, and phone calls. With Business Engine the university staff were able to enter into the system who needed to be asked about support for each student, then the system automatically generated online web forms for every mentor, college, school, research center, and the like.
Then the people associated with each group were automatically emailed an individualized online form with just their students to specify support information. That info then automatically flowed back into Business Engine, and in turn automatically flowed to the university's business office (with digitally signed offer letters automatically attached!) And, of course, at any time, staff could find folks who hadn't filled out their form yet and email them a reminder.
This stipend support automation alone saved a month of staff time. They told us just that one feature paid for the whole system. Having a feature like this is game changing. But having a platform where you can easily CREATE a feature like this is priceless (well — not literally priceless — Business Engine is priced quite reasonably — but, you know, priceless rhetorically...)
Microsoft Word has thousands of features, but most people only use about 5% of them. But which 5% of features they use varies person by person. This creates a HUGE headache for Microsoft to create a friendly user interface as they try to create the most usable system possible that is, literally, filled with 95% of things a normal person doesn't use. I think many users also feel that headache when using it...
And not to pick on Microsoft Word (I don't want to be mean about MS Word because Steven Sinofsky — who headed up development of Microsoft Office for a while — seems like a great guy who also wrote an excellent book, which I love, about his experience creating MS Word), but you know what else you can't do with Microsoft Word? You can't call up Microsoft and say, "Hey, could you, like, spend just an hour and add a button to the screen that does such-and-such — it would save my team a HUGE amount of time." Microsoft Word isn't built for that.
Business Engine is built for that. We can just add a button. Once folks get used to that, they never want to go back. It's also set up just for you. With no screen, field, or report you don't use. That makes it easier to use. And faster. And less expensive to train your staff on. Business Engine is specifically designed for customization.
AI is currently changing the world. Outside of technical circles, it sometimes still seems like a lot of hype. To folks creating software, it's already a stunning game changer. We think it's going to keep having an ever greater impact.
AI is allowing us to do incredible things with Business Engine. We couldn't say "We'll get you up and running in a week or two," if we didn't have AI. The broad customization we do also relies on AI to make it cost-effective for customers and time effective for us. But unlike some, we haven't just splashed "AI" all over the top of our website to dance amongst an animated blizzard of buzzwords. We're not AI buzzword compliant. We were doing business automation long before AI became a thing. We love AI, we use AI, but we aren't an AI company. We're a business automation company that uses AI (and many other technologies) to enable companies to do amazing new things they couldn't do before. Our systems are greatly accelerated by AI — more so all the time — which is incredibly exciting! But the selling point for Business Engine is not that it's "AI enabled", but what it can do for you.
Business Engine multiplies your team, automates the routine, then saves weeks, not minutes, with automations built just for you.
